Zorp the green alien can debug a black hole and speak 400 languages. He fixes a prod outage by asking the server nicely, and his reward is a calendar full of meetings. A 75-second animated short about getting promoted out of the job you love.
The plot, roughly
Application 48, and this time he added "team player". In the interview he mentions the black hole, the 400 languages, and that he needs money for Earth snacks. He gets the job, saves production, writes the docs, and Maya tells him he's the best engineer they've got. So naturally they make him a manager.
After that come the meeting about the meeting, 1:1s that actually help, a firm "no, we will not ship on Friday", 200 tickets and a stack of perf reviews. "The code was easier. But I can fix this too."
How it was made
What impressed me most wasn't the output. It was how it was made. Claude Opus 5.5 didn't use an AI video generator. Instead, it:
- Drew every character and scene as vector art in Python
- Animated the blinking, lip-sync, camera zooms and transitions
- Synthesized the music, sound effects and character voices from scratch
- Rendered test frames to check its own work, then fixed what looked off
75 seconds, 1080p, built entirely in code in a single session.
As someone who works in DevOps and automation, the real highlight for me was watching an AI plan, build, test and iterate like an engineer.
